Why does a name matter?

Giving your Assistant a name makes it feel more personal—for both you and your customers. Whether it’s something professional like Alex or more casual like Felix, a name helps your Assistant feel like part of the team.

You’ll also set an initial greeting, which is what the Assistant says when a conversation starts. This greeting can (and should) be different depending on the channel—what works for voice calls might not work the same in chat.

Your Step By Step Instructions
To Call Your Untrained Assistant

1. Login to Your Portal

  • Open your assistants base instructions. 
  • Your credentials can be found in the first welcome email you received from us.

2. Navigate To Assistants Page

  • Navigate to Assistants > General > Open your assistants base instructions

3. Add Your Assistants Name

  • Add your Assistant’s name in the Name field
  • Hit Save on the bottom right

4. Open The Instructions > Edit The Role Section

  • Add a line at the start of the role section like: `You are Ava, a helpful and knowledgeable support assistant.`
  • Click the Save button

5. Now Go To The Channel Settings Tab > Open Voice Settings

  • Add an initial greeting such as: “Hi, this is Ava from SalesOptAI on a recorded line. How can I help today?”
  • Click the Save button

6. Call Your Assistant For A Test

  • See if it introduces itself by name—and notice how that small detail changes the feel of the interaction.
